Hello and Warm Fraternal greetings to one and all and  welcome to Lodge United Services No.58 G.L.I’s home on the internet.

We are a Lodge of Freemasons in Bangalore under Ancient, Free & Accepted Masons of India.

History of The Lodge:

In the year 1898, a group of 22 devout Freemasons belonging to the Armed and Auxiliary services of his Majesty’s Govt., stationed in and around Bangalore, as also some European Civilians, came together to found our Lodge.

With the active Co-operation of the Brethren of Lodge Bangalore No.1043 E.C., they approached the District Grand Lodge at Madras in due form for Registration of a new lodge in the district under the guidance and control of the Grand Lodge of England.

It was intended to provide the benefit of Masonic education and experience exclusively for their Brethren in the Armed and Allied Services of His Majesty’s Govt.

Thus “Lodge UNITED SERVICE” was duly inaugurated on Wednesday the 24th August 1898 and a warrant No.2735 dated 8th November 1898 was duly issued to our lodge from the GRAND LODGE OF ENGLAND.

W.Bro.F.Powell was the first W.Master of this Lodge and Mr.Benett was its first initiate.

It is evident that the founders of Lodge United Service No.2735 E.C. and Brother Masons took keen interest and at great personal commitment and sacrifices have laid the Foundations to raise the Pillars of Freemasonry in Bangalore.

Lodge United Service is the second Masonic Lodge to be consecrated here at Bangalore, India (after Lodge Bangalore No.15 G.L.I (1043 E.C)

On 20th July 1959 an amendment to the Bye Laws 5 to change the day of the Lodge Meetings from 3rd Monday to the 4th Wednesday each month was carried with confirmation. (THIS IS THE PRACTICE EVEN TODAY!)
